What Therm & Term keeps, and for how long.
As little as it can: no accounts, no email, no names, no addresses, no gas account numbers, no ads and no trackers.
The free tools
The Offer Check, the Bill Reader and the unit converter save nothing. Your numbers travel in the page address, so your own browser history keeps them. The web server's access logs record the full address of each page, including what was typed into a tool and an Offer File's private link, with the network address that asked. Only the server's administrators can read those logs, and they are kept as long as the hosting control panel keeps them. Result pages are marked private (not indexed, not cached, no referrer). No cookie is set on these pages.
Offer Files
An Offer File is reached only by its private link. The database keeps a one-way fingerprint of that link (SHA-256), never the link itself, plus the plan and the file's contents ENCRYPTED with the site's key: the name you gave it, your monthly gas use, your default price, past prices if you typed them, and the offers with their notes. A file nobody opens for 400 days is deleted. Deleting a file removes it from the live database at once.
Anyone with the link can open the file, so keep it to yourself. Lost links cannot be found again: the site cannot read fingerprints back into links.
Forms and limits
Forms that save carry a security token in a cookie that expires after 24 hours. To stop abuse, the site counts saves and new files per network address per day, keeping only a salted one-way hash of the address for 3 days.
Backups
A deleted file can remain, encrypted, in copies of the database: nightly copies kept on the server for 14 days, copies taken each time the site is updated (kept 14 days), and WeldonPC's own server backups.
Payments
Payments are not switched on during preview. When they are, the payment company will handle card details; Therm & Term will keep only an order reference tied to the file.
